In 1975 the Guilderland Garden Club and Guilderland Historical Society began decorating the Mynderse-Frederick House on Route 146 in Guilderland Center for a holiday greens show and open house. Planning for what has become an annual free community event begins in late summer. The decorations, wreaths and most of the refreshments are made by Club members and each year the show has a different theme. We thank everyone who has attended over the years!
The Guilderland Garden Club, along with the Guilderland Historical Society and Helderview Garden Club, were delighted to return to the historic Mynderse/Frederick House for our 2023 Holiday Greens Show (photos below)! The House was decorated with fresh greens and handmade ornaments, and decorations for the winter holidays, made by Club members, were sold. Proceeds were donated to the local food pantry, the Caring Closet and our Scholarship Fund.
The 2024 show, "Deck the Halls," once again highlighted the historic Frederick House filled with decorations, fresh greens and handmade ornaments made by Club members. Free refreshments, musical entertainment and tours were available and, of course, Santa stopped by for a visit! Ornaments, floral arrangements, decorated wreaths, raffle baskets and other crafts were sold. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to community organizations, our Scholarship Fund for local high school students and our local food pantries. Please see photos below of the 2024 show.
We thank you all for attending and supporting our community activities. Happy New Year!
Annual Greens Show and Open House
Carol Samsonoff, pictured left, created this replica of the original wedding dress worn by Apolonia Frederick. Carol sewed the entire dress by hand, without a pattern, using very delicate silk and lace. The dress is modeled by Donna Crego. Donna had worn the original dress at the show for many years, but it had greatly deteriorated and could no longer be worn.
